Moggi shocked by Juventus sacking of Ranieri

Former Juventus sports director Luciano Moggi admits he was shocked by the sacking of Claudio Ranieri.

"Juventus aren't accustomed to sackings in the final few weeks of the season - that's why the news is even more sensational," Moggi said on R101.

"However, it has become common practice in football. If things don't go well then the Coach pays first then the directors.

"The Juve directors are scared of losing third place and guaranteed entry to the Champions League. It seems like the squad have already thrown in the towel.

"Fiorentina are now just one point behind and they are moving forward quicker than Juve at the moment. This should at least provoke a reaction from the players.

"However, I don't think that Ranieri did so badly at Juve and he wasn't the wrong choice as Coach."
