Luka Modric is seeking assurances from Harry Redknapp before he signs a new Tottenham deal.

The Daily Star Sunday says White Hart Lane chief Redknapp wants Modric to sign an extension with improved wages of £80,000-a-week.

But it is understood Modric won't commit himself to Spurs only to discover Redknapp is the next England boss when Fabio Capello steps down after the Euro 2012 finals in Poland and Ukraine.
