MLS WRAP - WEEK 4: Colorado beaten in Cup replay, RSL go top, Galaxy thwarted

Reigning MLS Cup champions Colorado Rapids suffered their first defeat for the 2011 season on the weekend, at the hands of David Ferreira's FC Dallas. Friday night saw FC Dallas host the Rapids in the Cup final replay and it was the Texan club who exacted revenge with a comfortable 3-0 win to kickstart their season with their first victory.

Ugo Ihemelu opened the scoring for Dallas in the 26th minute before 2010 MVP David Ferreira, who scored in the ill-fated final, scored once either side of half-time to give the home side a 3-0 lead by the 46th minute of the match which was enough in the end.

The win allowed Dallas to climb off the bottom of the Western Conference table as the Rapids dropped to second as Real Salt Lake grabbed a 2-0 away win over New England Revolution in a match which saw three red cards - two going the way of the Revs who stayed second on the Eastern Conference despite the loss.

In other MLS matches in Week 4, O'Brian White scored his second goal for the week to help Seattle Sounders to a 2-1 home win over Chicago Fire, Philadelphia Union held on at home for a 1-0 victory over New York Red Bulls, Charlie Davies converted a last-minute penalty as DC United drew 1-1 with LA Galaxy, Chivas USA and Columbus Crew played out a scoreless draw in Los Angeles, San Jose Earthquakes grabbed a 1-1 draw at home with Toronto FC and Houston Dynamo jumped to third in the East with a 3-1 triumph over Vancouver Whitecaps in Texas.
