MLS are battling to keep Chad Marshall at Columbus Crew. The defender has just completed a successful trial at German Second Division club, Mainz, and expects to be offered terms in January.

However, the Washington Post says MLS and the Crew have made a new contract offer to Marshall to keep him in the 'States.
