MLS teams to rid Canadian clubs of Canadian player quota
The Province reports that MLS will drop the Canadian player quota for Canadian clubs in the league.
Toronto FC and expansion franchises Vancouver Whitecaps and Montreal Impact will no longer need to worry about the amount of homegrown players on their list, however, Canadians will still count as internationals for other MLS clubs.
MLS is yet to announce it but Whitecaps president Bob Lenarduzzi indicated that, from 2011, 'players from Canada and the U.S. will both count as "domestic" players for Canadian teams. For U.S. teams, however, it's expected that Canadian players will continue to be considered internationals. MLS teams have eight international roster spots but can trade for more.'
