MLS MVP Magee pens new Chicago Fire deal

Mike Magee has signed a new contract with the Chicago Fire.

The 29-year old forward, who won the 2013 Major League Soccer MVP award, has re-signed with the Fire but the club is not able to disclose terms of the deal.

Magee returned to his hometown in May last year when the Fire acquired him in a trade with the LA Galaxy which saw Robbie Rogers head to California.

Magee said in a club statement: "As a kid, I would have paid to play for the Chicago Fire, so as you can imagine, I'm beyond happy to have signed a new deal.

"My only goal with this team is to win an MLS Cup."

Since arriving at Toyota Park, Magee has scored 16 goals in 25 MLS appearances for a total of 19 in 29 outings in all competitions for the Chicago club.
