MLS improving rapidly says Chelsea boss Di Matteo

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo is of firm belief that Major League Soccer is continuing to improve.

The Blues are on their pre-season tour of America with their first match of the Herbalife World Football Challenge to take place against Seattle Sounders at CenturyLink Field in Wednesday night.

Di Matteo is well aware of the quality of some of the players that the Sounders have at their disposal and feels that the overall standard of MLS is improving rapidly with people in Europe starting to really take notice.

"I tend to watch a bit more MLS games now sometimes because of the players that are involved," the Italian said.

"They (the Sounders) have some very good players. We obviously know Eddie Johnson a bit better than the others, but you know, [Mauro] Rosales, [Alvaro] Fernandez - they've got some good players and it'll be interesting to play them."

He added: "The perception that we have in Europe about the MLS is that it is improving. And the fact that you sign players at a younger age now - very good players that have a proven track record in European leagues."
