MLS officials are exploring the prospect of bring Sol Campbell to the States for season 2010. Campbell's release from his Notts County contract has alerted MLS clubs, with New York Red Bulls, David Beckham's LA Galaxy and expansion club Philadelphia Union all keen to speak with the former Tottenham, Arsenal and Portsmouth centre-half.
Campbell cannot register with another club until January, so making a preseason in the States a realistic option in 2010.
While there is talk of the 34 year-old defender announcing his retirement, sources close to Campbell say he was serious about playing for Notts County, but left disappointed by broken promises about upgrading the Magpies' training facilities.
Campbell has openly spoken about the prospect of playing in MLS and his acting ambitions make the move to the States a perfect fit.
