Major League Soccer's 21st franchise, Orlando City SC, broke ground on their brand new downtown stadium on Thursday.
The Florida outfit simulated a true matchday experience by having fans meet before marching to the Church St venue with vibrant purple flags and banners to brighten the city.
Orlando City's main officials then performed a 'dig' which featured purple sand and purple shovels and fans were even treated to a gift with the club giving them a commemorative jar containing the sand.
Orlando City president Phil Rawlins was proud to break ground on the brand new stadium as the Lions prepare to enter MLS for the 2015 season.
"Today marks more than a mere stadium groundbreaking, it marks the beginning of a new era for the community, our fans and our team," Rawlins told the club's official website.
"We are immensely proud to be a part of such a transformational project, which will bring world class soccer to the 'Soccer Capital of the South,' along with economic opportunity and jobs.
"This stadium will set the cornerstone for development in the Parramore community, and we look forward to contributing to this area's growth well into the future."
The report on Orlando's sit added: 'The stadium is being designed and constructed by Populous, Barton Malow, and ICON Venue Group, who are widely renowned for previous works on venues such as Wembley Stadium, 02 Arena and Yankee Stadium.'
