MLS Cup window not closing on Houston Dynamo says president Canetti

Despite falling agonisingly close three years in a row, Houston Dynamo's title window is not about to close.

They are the sentiments of club president Chris Canetti who has seen the side lose the 2011 and 2012 MLS Cup finals, both to the LA Galaxy, before narrowly bowing out in the Eastern Conference final to Sporting Kansas City 2-1 on aggregate on the weekend.

When asked if the Dynamo would make personnel changes in the offseason, Canetti suggested that it was not a necessity for he and head coach Dom Kinnear to tinker too much to a largely successful formula.

"I don't think the window's closing on this team," Canetti told MLSsoccer.com. "I think we have a long list of players that are very talented and in the prime of their careers.

"We've got a very, very strong nucleus of the team that will be back.

"When we had our first team healthy, we were a very winning side. When this team is together, it can be a winning team in a very strong way."

He added: "It would not be wise to make big changes. As we sit here today the core of the team will be intact and the main characters of this team are expected to be around and the plan is to add pieces around them in an effort to strengthen the team and provide depth."
