MLS Commissioner Don Garber was delighted with the MLS All-Stars event against Manchester United this week.
Garber spoke at halftime of the All-Star game regarding some of the overall objectives that he hoped to achieve through the event.
"It's been a good event," Garber said. "And that's the objective of an All- Star game: to try to capture a bit of the attention of the general sports fan in addition to catering to those soccer fans who support our league and might be a supporter of another club.
"You certainly hope that [MLS] could stand tall, which is one of our goals, to show that we can compete. But we don't pretend that our players are yet, in most cases, of the caliber of Manchester United. And we're not trying to position ourselves that way."
