MLS chiefs have no intention of selling Los Angeles Galaxy captain Landon Donovan to Everton.
They are reluctant to see him leave as he only penned a new four-year deal with Galaxy last December.
MLS commissioner Don Garber said: "It is my hope and my expectation that we will have him for the rest of his career.
"Landon is, in my view, the greatest player of our generation and an incredibly valuable part of our history - but also our future."
