The New York Red Bulls are likely to be joined by a second competitor in the North American domestic league but Garber has made it clear that another NY team can only survive if they have a home base of their own.
"If we can build a stadium we're going to have a team in New York City. But we have a lot of work to do before we get that stadium built," Garber said. "I feel better about it now than I have at any other point."
The seemingly most likely franchise to enter MLS looks to be New York Cosmos but Garber is not so convinced about the reignited club.
"They have some things they have to work out in their ownership group," Garber added. "When we get the team launched, if they want to be a part of it, we'll be happy to talk to him."
