MLS Commissioner Don Garber has revealed that the NBC Sports Network convinced him to make the switch from FOX Soccer Channel.
North America's domestic competition declined to stay with FOX for more money after holding talks with NBC Sports Group chairman Mark Lazarus, who replaced Dick Ebersol in May.
"Mark comes from the cable world, where you need to be hungrier and more innovative.""Dick never really embraced the game, but that was a function of NBC being steeped in traditional sports," Garber said.
The MLS/NBC deal kicks off for the 2012 season and will see a return to network television for the league.
