Real Salt Lake are set to carry three goalkeepers this season as they did in their 2009 championship season.
General manager Garth Lagerwey admitted that the club was keen to continue with providing three places for shot-stoppers to assist with day-to-day training and to help protect the players in that position.
"If we have 24 roster spots, very likely we will carry three goalkeepers. We want to carry three goalkeepers. It's something we believe in. It's something we think helps our training sessions. It's something that we think reduces the wear and tear on your starter in terms of a day-to-day basis. I think it's part of our philosophy to try and carry three keepers," said Lagerwey.
Nick Rimando will remain the clubs number one choice whilst Kyle Reynish has jumped to number two after the departure of Chris Seitz to Philadelphia Union.
RSL have taken on Tim Melia for trials along with two rookies with the best performer in pre-season set to win a place on the squad.
