LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena has learnt his lesson from celebrating the clubs 2011 MLS title.
The Galaxy did not prepare well enough for the beginning of the 2012 campaign and it took its toll as they lost 10 of their first 18 matches before rallying to make the playoffs and then going on to make it back-to-back championships.
Despite the triumph, Arena is making sure he prepares properly for 2013 after admitting the club basked in glory too much last season.
"Every day since the end of 2011 MLS Cup we were celebrating, we were setting engagements and we were fully occupied with everyone being aware of the fact that we won the MLS Cup in 2011 and I think it impacted us on the field and off the field," Arena said.
"I think it's a great experience for us because I'm hopeful that this year we pat ourselves on the back for it and get on with the work in 2013."
