MK Dons reveals rejected Derby approach for Ince

MK Dons have confirmed they turned down an approach from Derby County for their manager Paul Ince.

Derby named Paul Jewell as new manager today and a MK Dons statement read: "Milton Keynes Dons Football Club can confirm it has rejected an approach from Derby County to speak to Paul Ince about the vacant managerial position at Pride Park.

"Paul and the team have made an excellent start to the season in League Two, a fact that had not gone unnoticed by clubs in higher divisions.

"However, it was the opinion of the board that the club's best interests would not be served by granting permission for an approach - a decision vindicated by Paul's desire to remain at stadium:mk.

"With reference to continual speculation regarding Paul's future, the club would like to reiterate Paul's ambition to achieve success in Milton Keynes and the club's determination to retain his services."
