Mjallby urges Hooper to become Celtic's next Henrik Larsson

Johan Mjallby believes Gary Hooper has the ability to become a Celtic legend just like Henrik Larsson did.

Hoops assistant Mjallby's fellow Swede dominated Scottish football in the late 1990s and early 2000s and Hooper has been backed to emulate his achievements at Parkhead if he remains.

"It would be great for us if Gary stayed like Henrik did. Did Henrik prove you don't have to leave Celtic to be a superstar? In a way, yes," Mjallby said of the 24-year old who is a target for Norwich City.

"Obviously Henrik had a bonus in that he played for Sweden, and Gary hasn't played for England yet.

"But Gary does have a better chance of winning an England call-up if he stays at Celtic.

"At least in the short term, that is the case. We know in the past that he has been close to the England squad.

"The last few months haven't harmed his chances of getting picked either.

"Sometimes it might be a blessing to be at Celtic."
