Mjallby backs Celtic action against hooligans

Johan Mjallby believes Celtic was right to ban 128 supporters from their games as well as relocate 250 season ticket holders in the wake of their behaviour at Motherwell on the weekend.

Hoops fans tore apart seats in one section of the Fir Park ground during their side's 5-0 win on Friday night and have since been sanctioned by the club which has been backed by assistant manager Mjallby.

"It is very unfortunate what happened and I don't think it left the club with any other option but to suspend some fans," he said before the team boarded a flight to Spain for Wednesday night's Champions League clash with Barcelona.

"You don't want to have mayhem, you can't have this disruption inside sports grounds so we have to get together to support the club in the best way.

"It is a distraction I don't like to see because I like to work with the players.

"The club has reacted in the best way."
