Mista confirmed as Toronto FC's second Designated Player

Miguel Angel Ferrer Martinez, known as Mista, has been confirmed as Toronto FC's second Designated Player, joining Julian de Guzman.

The signing was confirmed earlier this week but some extra information has come to hand with Mista, despite being installed as a DP, only taking up half the total sum a normal DP would incur.

MLS rules state that a DP counts for $335,000 of the $2.55million budget for normal player salary but because Mista has signed for half a season, he only counts for $167,500.

The 31-year old joins Toronto from Spanish outfit Deportivo la Coruna after earlier stints with Real Madrid, Tenerife, Valencia and Atletico Madrid.
