Minor premiers Brisbane Roar not about to go all defensive on us

Premiers' Plate winners Brisbane Roar will certainly not revert to defensive tactics in tomorrow night's semi-final first leg with Central Coast Mariners.

Roar coach Ange Postecoglou said it would be wrong if he told his players to go against the game style they have used all season to top the league and notch up 25 matches without a loss when they take on the Mariners at Bluetongue Stadium on Saturday.

"That would be a mistake for us," Postecoglou said Thursday.

"We played a certain way all year home-and-away and that's proven to be pretty effective for us."

Postecoglou knows very well that to win finals you need to score goals and that's what his players are setting out to do.

"The key to finals games is goals," he added.

"They're usually tight affairs and if you can score some goals you can put some pressure on the opposition.

"If we went with a defensive mindset it would work against us.

"It's not our natural game and if we can put some pressure on them on the scoreboard I think that would work well in our favour."
