Minders for Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata are in contact with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez this week.

Morata admits he came close to leaving Chelsea this summer and left the door open to returning to Madrid in the future.

Don Balon says Morata's agents have kept in regular contact with Florentino and have stepped up talks this week to make it clear he remains eager to return 'home'.

Even the arrival of Mariano Diaz from Lyon hasn't turned off Morata, who regrets leaving Real a year ago.

Back with the Spain squad this week, the striker said: "It is clear that Madrid is the best in the world and everyone would like to be there, but I am not envious of Mariano, I wish him well."
