James Milner wants to establish himself in Manchester City's central midfield.
Though still just 24, Milner has been playing first-team football for eight years and the Sunderland game was his 250th league match.
He feels at home in the middle.
"I think I've played in every position in my career except centre-back and goalkeeper," he said. "It does help if you play in one position all the time. You get settled and into a rhythm.
"I think the middle is where I play my best football. It suits my attributes best, things I have in my game like my energy. After that, I like to play anywhere attacking."
