Milner happy to take no.7 pressure of Liverpool off others

James Milner has said that he is more than happy to bear the pressure which comes with wearing the No.7 jersey at Liverpool.

The number 7 holds a lot of importance at Anfield as club legends such as Luis Suarez, Kevin Keegan, Kenny Dalglish, John Aldridge, Peter Beardsley and Steve McManaman, among others, have all donned the famous jersey over the years.

Currently the number 7 at Anfield belongs to Milner and the midfielder has stated that he is more than happy to deal with the pressure that comes with the ownership of the jersey as it takes pressure off of someone else's shoulders.

Ahead of Wednesday night's Europa League final with Sevilla, Milner said: "Every single time you represent Liverpool, you realise what a big club it is.

"I know the No 7 shirt is a big deal here. But I don't mind the pressure of taking that shirt on because it takes it away from someone else.

"There's pressure on you every time you step out on that field and no-one puts more pressure on me than me."
