Aston Villa will survive Gareth Barry's defection to Manchester City, insists winger James Milner.

The former Newcastle midfielder said: "It was sod's law the way the fixtures worked out that we were the team that put Newcastle down.

"I am a Villa player so you have to do your job but it wasn't nice. I got on so well with them so it was tough to see.

"It's obviously sad to see Gareth Barry leave but I'm sure we will get in some good replacements."
