Millwall defender Zak Whitbread will undergo surgery on a troublesome hip injury and is expected to miss up to two months. The US international is currently on the transfer list at The New Den after turning down a new offer from the club and it is unclear where exactly his future lies.
"Zak's having an operation in London on Monday so he'll be out for eight to 10 weeks," Lions boss Kenny Jackett said.
"It's a big loss, either for him to come back and play for me or for him to perhaps move on and us use the money to strengthen."
Whitbread was linked with a move to Peterborough but talks collapsed over personal terms.
