Millwall captain Robinson feared for his family at Wembley

Millwall skipper Paul Robinson feared for his family over the shameful scenes at Wembley during their FA Cup semifinal defeat to Wigan Athletic.

Millwall skipper Paul Robinson feared for his family over the shameful scenes at Wembley during their FA Cup semifinal defeat to Wigan Athletic.

The 31-year-old defender was ruled out of his side’s 2-0 FA Cup semi final defeat to Wigan on Saturday through injury but was in the stadium as a spectator.

He was appalled to see Millwall fans fighting among themselves – and last night revealed that other players also feared for their nearest and dearest.

Robinson said: “It was distressing to see as I had family and friends very close to that area.

"A couple were right on the fringes of the trouble that went on and you are obviously concerned for their safety and welfare.

“I’m sure many other players were as well, even though they were concentrating on trying to beat Wigan at the time.”
