Olyroos captain Mark Milligan has officially signed with A-League reigning premiers the Newcastle Jets. Milligan will join the Jets initially for a seven-match guest stint before he becomes a permanent member of the squad next season. After trying his luck in Europe but no being able to secure a contract, Milligan returns to Australia and is keen to get back into competitive action. Speaking on Fox Sports, Milligan said, "As I made clear before I went away, I wasn't heading overseas just for the sake of heading overseas. "I wanted to do it to better myself, to better my career and unfortunately things didn't work out so coming home and being given the chance here is outstanding. "I haven't wanted to play so much and just get back involved." The fact that Milligan will now be playing regular first team football will enhance his international chances and he will be looking to build on the six Socceroos appearances he has already.
