Milijas: McCarthy convinced me about Wolves

Nenad Milijas says Mick McCarthy was key to his decision to sign with Wolves.

The left-footed Serbian international central midfielder became the club's first summer signing after agreeing a four-year deal in the £2.6m switch from Red Star Belgrade.

Milijas said: "I spoke to Mick McCarthy and he seems like a great manager.

"Even after just a few minutes talking I feel glad I'm going to play for him."

The 26-year-old former Red Star captain revealed his ambition to help Wolves survive in the Premier League after promotion.

"Wolves are a very big club and hopefully I can help them become a strong team in the league and I think the potential is there to do that. Hopefully I can come in and help Wolves in the Premier League and I'm sure Wolves will help me in my career as well. I will give it my very best and hopefully next season Wolves can establish themselves in the league.

"For me the Premier League is the best and the hardest league in the world and it's been my ambition to play there for a long time. Every game is a very difficult game and also an important game."

Milijas has vowed to go flat out to make the most of his opportunity at Molineux.

"I can tell the fans that in every training session and every game I will be giving my maximum," he said. "I always give of my best and hopefully that's going to be good enough to help Wolves.

"I've been told Wolves have been watching me for a long time, but I didn't really know too much about it as I was just concentrating on playing my football."

He added: "I've been playing up until recently so will have two or three weeks off now."
