Milicevic on verge of signing new deal with Newcastle Jets

Defender Ljubo Milicevic is on the verge of signing a new deal with the Newcastle Jets.

The former Melbourne Victory and FC Thun man has had a troubled start with the Jets after a bust up with coach Gary van Egmond but is believed to be keen to extend his current deal.

"I have advised my management, my brother Steve and manager Buddy Farah, to speak to the club," Milicevic said.

"When I originally signed it was for peanuts and I think I have proven to everyone that I am back where I want to be. I still have ambition to play for a big club in Europe but I don't want to leave Newcastle just for the sake of leaving.

"I am happy in Newcastle. I live on the beach; I'm learning to surf; I have made some good friends; I'm keeping it real; I enjoy it here.

"It's calm and relaxing and I can focus on my football."
