Ljubo Milicevic says he will return to Newcastle Jets training on Monday.
"I will be back on Monday and it is all positive," Milicevic told The Newcastle Herald.
"There were a few issues," he said. "I won't go into detail, but things are progressing. My time at home was pre-arranged. It had nothing to do with what happened the other day.
"I am keeping it real in Melbourne for the next couple of days, but I'm looking forward to being back in Newcastle."
Professional Footballers Association chief Brendan Schwab was also involved in the talks yesterday.
Milicevic signed a one-year deal with the Jets in February.
He has made no secret of his intention to return to Europe and has been linked with a move to Croatian giants Hajduk Split.
"I would love to play for Hajduk Split one day," he said. "There is an interest there and there has always been an interest.
"Two years ago we were discussing terms, but I am not in talks with them now. I am in constant contact with [former Socceroo] Josip Skoko. He is the captain. Of course anything I tell him can go straight to the coach and the directors.
"I am planning to go to Europe in June or July. I'm not hiding that."
