Mike Phelan is firming as favourite for the Hull City job.
The Daily Mail says Phelan looks set to lead Hull into the new Premier League season.
The former Manchester United assistant boss has been in caretaker charge since Steve Bruce quit last month.
And there is now a strong chance that Phelan will land the role on a permanent basis after the club's failed attempts to appoint their preferred targets.
They were still seeking permission from the Welsh FA to speak to their boss Chris Coleman last week, but it is understood he has now cooled on the idea of taking over.
Roberto Martinez, meanwhile, has been unveiled as the new manager of the Belgium national team, while Gianfranco Zola has concerns about the make-up of the backroom team.
