Mignolet hopes Liverpool great Gerrard is rewarded with Premier League title

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet believes captain Steven Gerrard deserves to win the Premier League.

The 33-year old midfielder has secured the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup, the FA Cup and the League Cup but is yet to add the league title to his collection.

With the Reds currently sitting a point off league leaders Chelsea, Mignolet has spoken of how his influential skipper is certainly one player who thoroughly merits winning a premiership.

"With everything he has achieved throughout his career [he deserves to win the Premier League]," the Belgian told talkSPORT's Drivetime.

"He has led by example throughout the years. He's a very good player and also, off the pitch, he supports every single individual in the dressing room.

"Everybody talks about [winning the title] but he just stays the same person and that's all credit to him."

Liverpool host sixth-placed Tottenham at Anfield this Sunday while Chelsea are away to London rivals Crystal Palace.

Manchester City, who sit three points behind in third place with two games in hand, are away to fourth-placed Arsenal in another big weekend pertaining to the title chase.
