Mignolet angry with ref despite Liverpool win

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet insists they deserved their win at Leicester City.

He believes he was on the wrong end of two poor decisions from referee Anthony Taylor at the King Power Stadium.

Mignolet is adamant he was fouled by Shinji Okazaki in the build up to the Foxes' first goal and says he played the ball when he was penalised for bringing down Jamie Vardy in the box.

“We dug in and deserved the victory," Mignolet said.

“Their first goal was a clear foul. Okazaki had hold of my left arm. It meant I couldn't jump properly for the ball.

“I just had to stay cool and try to see the game through. The penalty was not a penalty, I touched the ball and he ran into me.

“It's a coming together which is normal, I just don't think it's a penalty. I told the ref I got the ball. I wasn't in any doubt, I knew it.

“If an outfield player had made that challenge then nobody would speak about it. I thought it was clear. The ball didn't go anywhere, it stayed there because I had touched it. I got there first.

“Thankfully, those decisions didn't cost us and we got the three points."
