Middlesbrough defender Lewis Smith's trial at Carlisle has been extended to allow the 18-year-old to play in a reserve match against Bury today.

"He's a young lad but we're happy to take another look," said Carlisle boss John Ward. "He played well against Burnley so we'll see how he goes in the Bury game."
