Off contract Middlesbrough midfielder Fabio Rochemback hopes to complete a move to Sporting Lisbon.

Rochemback has travelled to Portugal to undergo a medical with Sporting.

"I am optimistic," he told the Portuguese press after arriving at Lisbon airport. "I am happy to be able to return to Lisbon. I was always wanted in Sporting and it feels like home."

Rochemback, who is set to pen a three-year deal with Sporting, signed off for Boro in style on Sunday as he fired home a superb 35-yard free-kick during their 8-1 demolition of Manchester City.
