Middlesbrough defender Andrew Davies admits he hopes for a permanent deal at Southampton.

"It's just a loan deal at the moment but I hope to be here much longer," he said. "The second I knew Saints were interested this was the only place I wanted to go. There were a few clubs in for me but this was the move which appealed most.

"I want to be in the Premier League and I really feel we can achieve that.

"I would love to be here to take Southampton up and to play regularly with them in the top-flight."
