Middlesbrough midfielder Lee Cattermole will be in the Northwest today for talks with Wigan Athletic.

The Wigan Evening Post says the Latics were given the green light to open negotiations with the central midfielder after Middlesbrough accepted Wigan's undisclosed bid last week.

But with Latics away training in Austria and only arriving back on Saturday, today was the first opportunity to meet him.

Latics don't expect hitches with the deal and could have it wrapped up before tomorrow night's friendly at Barnsley.
