Middlesbrough striker Afonso Alves suffered a home burglary on Saturday.

Globo Esporte says Alves returned home from Boro's 1-1 draw with Portsmouth to discover his home burgled. Around £50,000 worth of furniture and jewellery was stolen.

"Lucas and (Steven) Gerrard also had their homes robbed last year, plus two players from Manchester United. Unfortunately, violence is present in all corners of the world and is not exclusive to Brazil," said Alves.
