Middlesbrough are set to win the race for £6 million Tottenham striker Mido.

The Sun says the Egyptian star agreed a £40,000-a-week deal after a whirlwind round of transfer talks on Teesside.

Mido, 24, passed the first part of a stringent medical yesterday and will seal his switch on Monday - in time to make his Boro debut at Wigan 48 hours later.

Sunderland, Birmingham and Fulham were also chasing the hitman who has been told he has no future at Spurs.
