Adama Traore has revealed that Barcelona do not focus too much on the defensive aspect of the game.
Traore arrived in England last season by joining Aston Villa but despite possessing undoubted talent, the youngster was unable to show his qualities during his debut season which ended badly for the West Midlands club.
The 20-year-old has improved since joining Middlesbrough prior to this season and he has now gone on to explain that one of the main reasons behind his initial struggles was due to the fact that he did not work on the defensive side of his game at former club Barcelona.
Traore told The Guardian: "Aitor (Karanka) tells me I need to work on my tactics and the way I sometimes play the game because here in England it's different to Spain.
"If the team's playing on the counterattack, I have to go back and defend. At Barcelona, it was a bit different.
"There wasn't as much focus on defending and 'doing your job' when you didn't have the ball. Aitor takes me to one side a lot and tells me the things he wants to work on.
"I don't want to become a totally different player, but I know there are things I have to improve."
