Middlesbrough are eyeing Celtic winger Aiden McGeady.
The People says McGeady has big support within the club from Boro's influential spy Gordon McQueen who thinks he would be a superb signing for his club in January.
Tottenham are talking about paying £11million for Stewart Downing, who has been close to quitting Teesside before, and Boro are considering cashing in if a replacement could be found within their budget.
Boro know that selling Downing would not be too painful as Adam Johnson is on their books and waiting for his chance - but landing McGeady would be a big coup for Southgate. Celtic could be in the market to trade after crashing out of Europe and the time may be right for the 22-year-old to try his luck in the Premier League.
