Championship club Middlesbrough are set to make a move for Southampton midfielder Gaston Ramirez, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 25-year-old, who arrived at the Saints in a £12million move from Bologna in 2012, is in the last year of his contract at St Mary's and is available on the cheap.

The Saints are willing to listen to offers for the Uruguayan international and Boro manager Aitor Karanka wants to bring him to Riverside to help the club in their promotion bid.

Boro will face competition from Ramirez's previous club Bologna who are also keen to land his signature.
