Middlesbrough's Shawky on Newcastle radar

Forgotten Middlesbrough Mohamed Shawky says Newcastle United have him on their radar.

The Egyptian has struggled to become a 'Boro first team player since his move to the Riverside in 2007 and is hoping for a new club to swoop for him.

He says that the Magpies may be that team.

"A Newcastle representative was present in Cairo to watch me in action during Egypt's World Cup qualifier with Zambia," Shawky told Al-Hayat TV.

"Joining Newcastle would be a step forward. They are a very good team and have a large fanbase in England."
