Middlesbrough's McMahon stays put

Middlesbrough defender Tony McMahon has decided to stay at the club, rejecting an offer from Championship club Burnley.

The 22-year old has found himself back in the first team recently and manager Gareth Southgate was relieved to have kept a promising young player at the club.

"Tony feels he wants to be here and rightly so, he wants to be here and fight for his place at a Premier League club, and he is playing very well for us, so that is pretty much dead," said Southgate.
