Middlesbrough's Jones hoping for further improvement

Middlesbrough goalkeeper Brad Jones is hoping the team can continue on from their impressive FA Cup performance against West Ham. 'Boro held the in-form Hammers to a 1-1 draw on Saturday and the Australian shot-stopper is hoping the team can produce a similar performance this week in the league against Wigan.

"The first half was probably the best we've played for a while," Jones told the club's official wesbite.

"I haven't seen us pass the ball that well for a long time.

"With the effort that everybody put in I think we deserved a little bit more, but it wasn't meant to be.

"There are positives coming out of the game all the time now and we have to transfer that into getting a few more goals and a few more points in the league."

Along with team improvement, the 26-year old was hoping to further his game now he is getting regular time on the pitch.

"I'm enjoying playing - it's as simple as that.

"When you're a footballer, you want to be out on the pitch.

"It was a frustrating first half of the season and I'm trying to make up for it now.

"The performance was certainly good enough to go into next week (Wigan) positive and fingers crossed we can get the win we so desperately need."
