Middlesbrough receive apology from Wembley for extra 'o'

Wembley Stadium organisers have apologised to Middlesbrough for spelling the club's name wrong on tickets for the Championship play-off final.

The London venue will hold the promotion clash between Boro and Norwich City on Monday but have had to deal with the ridicule of adding an extra 'o' in Middlesbrough's name - spelling it 'Middlesborough'.

38,000 tickets with the error were sent out and will still be redeemable according to a statement released by Wembley.

"We would like to apologise to Middlesbrough Football Club and its fans for this mistake, it was a human error," read the statement.

"These tickets will still be valid for Monday's game. We hope that it does not detract from what will be an excellent game."
