Middlesbrough are closing on a deal for West Ham United winger Stewart Downing.

The Mail on Sunday says Boro hope to finalise Downing's transfer from West Ham this week.

Boro and Downing are discussing the structure of payment on Downing's proposed £6m transfer which will include bonuses for promotion.
