Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate may have to sell before buying Heerenveen ace Afonso Alves.
The Guardian says Middlesbrough are negotiating to sign Heerenveen's Brazilian striker but the Dutch side's asking price of about £12m would be a record for the Teesside club and Southgate may consequently have to sell a player.
