Middlesbrough, Man City go for Benfica striker Nuno Gomes

A host of Premiership clubs are chasing Benfica striker Nuno Gomes.

Middlesbrough, Man City and Wigan are reportedly chasing Benfica striker Nuno Gomes and they are ready to firm up their interest before the transfer window slams shut on Friday.

Gomes' UK representative Phil McTaggart confirmed a number of clubs were chasing the forward ahead of the close of the transfer window.

"There has been a lot of interest in Nuno," McTaggart told skysports.com. "He is quality player who has played at the highest level all his career for club and country.

"He would be a good addition for any team as he has always scored goals, but it all depends on Benfica.

"We will wait and see what happens in the next few days."
